Introduction to Insurance Law
Many of our clients come to us because they are insured under an insurance policy issued by an insurance company that hires us to defend the insured. For example, if you were sued for your involvement in a motor vehicle accident and if you were insured by an insurance company that has selected our firm as defense counsel, then we will represent you in that lawsuit.
An insurance company may hire us to determine whether your accident or your loss is covered by the insurance policy you have with that company. Under those circumstances, we represent the insurance company.
On occasion, we represent clients in other insurance related litigation. For example, we have represented clients in actions against insurance agents for failure to procure the appropriate type of insurance. We have also assisted clients in obtaining benefits available to them under their insurance policies.
